Fabio will head out on loan

15/04/2012 00:35, Report by Adam Marshall Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Fabio is set to leave the club on loan next season.  The Brazilian defender has had a couple of outings at Reserves level recently but has made only one Barclays Premier League appearance this year – as a second-half substitute for Patrice Evra in the 5-0 win at Wolves. The manager is wary that the 21-year-old needs regular football at this stage of his career and is willing to farm him out to another club in time for the 2012/2013 campaign. After appearing in the Champions League final against Barcelona last season, the full-back has made 15 appearances this term, with many of them coming in Europe or the Carling Cup.

Chicharito excited by run-in

28/03/2012 11:44, Report by James Tuck Javier Hernandez is anticipating a thrilling end to the season and the chance to help United secure a 20th league title. The Reds are three points clear at the top with eight games left and there will be plenty of fingernail-biting in both halves of Manchester over the coming weeks.

Crerand: Hats off to Athletic

15/03/2012 21:47, Report by Adam Bostock Paddy Crerand declared his admiration for Manchester United’s Europa League conquerors after witnessing a second impressive performance by Athletic Club in eight days. The Reds legend also expressed his bewilderment at the Basque club’s domestic position – while Marcelo Bielsa’s side comfortably knocked out the English champions, they have effectively no hope of challenging Spain’s elite leaders in La Liga. “How is it possible that the team we’ve seen here tonight are 30 points behind Real Madrid

Neville: Learning valuable lessons

10/03/2012 10:55, Report by Gary Neville After nearly two decades’ experience of European football, Gary Neville recognises the lessons being learned by United’s youngsters this season – and he tips them to benefit in the long-term… I think the younger players in our squad will take a lot out of this season. The likes of Smalling, Jones, Rafael, Fabio, Cleverley and De Gea will learn some invaluable lessons

The hallmarks of change

09/03/2012 13:16, Report by Steve Bartram Steve Bartram looks at the causes of United’s poor European form… The problem with change is that it rarely allows things to stay the same.

Boss ponders Euro rethink

09/03/2012 08:53, Report by Adam Marshall Sir Alex has revealed that he is thinking of having a rethink over how United approach European home games in the wake of the 3-2 defeat to Athletic Club. The Reds have won only one of five ties at Old Trafford this season in the Champions League and Europa League, against Otelul Galati, and conceded an average of two goals per game. It’s a far cry from last season’s imperious form at the Theatre of Dreams, both domestically and in Europe’s premier competition, and the manager will be assessing the situation

Smalling dreams of a double

20/02/2012 11:45, Report by James Tuck Chris Smalling insists United’s players are “giving our all” to win the Europa League this season. A strong line-up and a professional display against Ajax last week dismissed the notion that Sir Alex’s men would not take the competition seriously following the early exit from the Champions League. Smalling was on the bench for the 2-0 win at the Amsterdam ArenA but Sir Alex has confirmed the defender will return from a three-game absence in the second leg at Old Trafford on Thursday
