February 6 is a date indelibly stamped in the history of Manchester United, it being the anniversary of the Munich air disaster in 1958.
One of the finest football sides in the world, led by pioneering manager Matt Busby, was on the way home to Manchester – from a European Cup quarter-final match against Red Star Belgrade – when the club’s plane crashed after refuelling at Munich Airport.
For those who have never seen the ‘Busby Babes’ in action, our video serves as an introduction to a group of gifted young players who were cut down before they had even reached their prime.
They will never be forgotten.
