UNICEF is calling on United fans around the world to support its East Africa Children’s Crisis Appeal.

The charity has increased humanitarian assistance to countries in East Africa, where nearly two million children under five are currently at risk of starvation.

A major food crisis is looming due to a deadly combination of drought, conflict and rising food prices. UNICEF has warned that nearly half a million children are facing severe malnourishment.

The current drought in East Africa (encompassing Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya and Djibouti) has been one of the worst for 60 years, leaving pastures barren, water sources dry and livestock starving.

Please donate now to help UNICEF’s work with children in crisis in East Africa.

Drought and conflict are causing tens of thousands of families to cross from Somalia to Kenya and Ethiopia each month, placing further strain on already overstretched refugee camps.

UNICEF continues to work in this region, delivering lifesaving nutrition and other basic supplies to keep vulnerable children alive and prevent disease.

In the most affected areas of Ethiopia, UNICEF has distributed food to almost 34,000 severely malnourished children, and ensured access to water and sanitation for over 280,000 people.
