The moment of reflection was organised following the Japanese earthquake and tsunami a week ago which has claimed thousands of lives.
Dear Liverpool supporters,
First of all, I would like to pass on the biggest thanks to everybody from all the Japanese supporters, for the wonderful support for our country shown at the Braga game yesterday. The final outcome was disappointing, but the rest was just unbelievable. They didn’t show the game on TV here in Japan, so many of the Japanese fans missed it. Therefore, it is very nice that you already published the video of the support for us on Liverpoolfc.tv.
The banners in the Kop and everywhere at Anfield, along with the one on the pitch ‘With You Japan’ in Japanese, were amazing. Moreover, the minute’s silence was second to none. We were so moved by yet more support from the club and the fans.
Of all the silences that have been held, Anfield was the best and most moving. It really sounded like they were thinking of us genuinely. Liverpool are the best in every department.
The latest news on our supporters’ club is that we have heard from 63 members so far. We have found that YOSHIKO TOGASHI is safe, and we have also heard that YUKO SANNOMARU has finally found out that her grandmother is safe.
We have 28 more members to hear from yet, and it is getting more and more difficult to contact everybody. We believe all of the 28 are all right as they live not in the worst struck areas. However, everybody in Japan is facing difficulties to some extent. People in and around Tokyo are having powercuts due to the shortage of electricity. They are trying to save on power to reduce the risk, which causes people’s lives to be even more complicated.

Even those who live far away from the worst hit areas, like Hokkaido, where I am, and western part of Japan, have been saving on fuel, electricity and food so that the people who have been suffering will get as much fuel and food as possible.
We will continue trying to contact all the members of the supporters’ club, though we understand that it may take time.
Meanwhile, we are trying to start a collection when the situation gets a bit better. We have heard from John Chew from the Malaysian Branch of the similar plan and we can co-operate with them.
One thing is for sure: we are in a difficult situation but our spirit is high. Particularly with the enormous support we’ve been having from all over the world.
I will write to you as soon as we get more updates.
Kind regards,
Keiko HiranoSecretary of Japanese LFC Supporters Club
