Suarez: Kenny is a legend

Luis Suarez today revealed how he believes working under the tutelage of Kenny Dalglish will help him develop into an even better player.

The Uruguayan forward has taken Anfield by storm since arriving from Ajax on January’s transfer deadline day, notching one goal and several assists in four appearances so far.

However, Suarez feels he can reach even greater heights with Dalglish’s assistance.

“Having a manager like Kenny Dalglish is really great for me. He is a person of great history and importance at the club,” said the Liverpool No.7.

“He’s one of the best players the club has ever had and now he’s correcting me and training me.

“I think it’s really great for me to work with a legend such as Kenny and I have enjoyed it so far.”

Dalglish has helped revitalise Liverpool’s season since being restored to the helm, and Suarez admits he’d be delighted if the King remained on his throne beyond the end of the campaign.

The 24-year-old added: “Yes, of course. I’m looking forward to working with him more in the future.”

Suarez’s form has already made him a huge hit with Reds fans, with his performance in the recent 3-1 victory over Manchester United particularly eye catching.

The striker played a key role in all three of Dirk Kuyt’s goals, and admits he was delighted to repay the support Kopites have given him since he arrived in England.

“It was a really great time for me,” said Suarez. “The fans wanted for me to get the goal and for us to win, and it was great for us against a team that we have always had a big rivalry with.

“The fans have really supported me and also the team as a whole since I signed for Liverpool. It was something we really needed to do and it was an unforgettable moment.

“When I first got here I was very nervous being at a big new club and everything in my life changed quickly. But as time has gone on it is getting easier and I like Liverpool as a city and a club.

“My family like the city and to have your wife and daughter by your side makes it a lot easier to settle in and play better on the pitch.”

Meanwhile, Suarez has explained why he was so determined to secure a move to Liverpool in the January transfer window.

He said: “I think you have to take hold of the opportunities in the moment and go with them. The opportunity to join Liverpool was there for me in January.

“I was aware of interest from other clubs but Liverpool trusted in me and they were the only ones who specifically asked Ajax to sign me.

“They wanted me a lot and that’s why I decided to go with the decision in January. I didn’t want to wait until the summer.”

Tickets are still available from the Ticket Office window for tonight’s game against Braga. Alternatively, some cash turnstiles will also be in operation.
