We’ve had Paul Scholes, David Beckham and Bert van Marwijk all backing an alleged bid from United to sign Wesley Sneijder.

Now Eric Cantona has joined the list by admitting he sees a bit of himself in the Dutch playmaker.

Speaking to the press ahead of Scholes’ testimonial with New York Cosmos, the French icon is quoted in The Mirror as saying: “Sneijder is one of the best. He will be great for the team. He is what Manchester United needs. There’s no-one like him right now. He’s strong. Sometimes he reminds me of myself.”

Several newspapers, including The Daily Mail, report that ex-Red Carlos Tevez will not face Sir Alex’s side at Wembley this weekend because he has been given an extended break by City.
