Liverpool Football Club are saddened to learn of the death of young Reds fan, Mary Collard.

11-year-old Mary passed away on New Year’s Day. She had been diagnosed with osteosarcoma of her knee and tragically further tests revealed the cancer had spread to her lung, spine and pelvis.

Mary made a huge impression on the players and staff at Liverpool FC during a special visit to Melwood in November, where she met Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and the rest of the first-team squad.

She also made her first visit to Anfield for the Reds’ match with Manchester City on November 27, and later described it as ‘the best day ever’.

Everybody at Liverpool Football Club would like to pass on their deepest condolences to Mary’s family and friends at this sad time.
