Nicky Ajose was once again on the scoresheet for Bury, netting the opener during the Shakers’ comfortable 2-0 win over Barnet in League Two. The United striker, who scored twice in the 4-2 win over Northampton last week, latched on to Kyle Bennett’s pass to chip over the onrushing keeper and take his tally to 13 this season.

In the Premier League, Danny Welbeck played 70 minutes for Sunderland in their 2-0 defeat to fellow relegation-battlers Birmingham. Welbeck, who has netted six times this season, linked up well with strike partner Asamoah Gyan but was unable to find the back of the net at St Andrew’s.
