Liverpool Football Club store supervisor Kathy Woods was celebrating today after scooping a prestigious accolade at Wednesday’s Liverpool Ambassador Awards.

Kathy, who has worked at the club’s city centre Williamson Square store for nine years, was nominated in the ‘Retail Assistant’ category by a highly-satisfied customer.
The Ambassador Awards are well regarded within the city, with their purpose to celebrate and reward excellence in customer service across a variety of categories.
Much to the delight of Kathy and everybody at LFC, she was crowned as the winner in the ‘Retail Assistant of the Year’ category and was presented with her prize by Neil Fitzmaurice at a glittering ceremony at the Crowne Plaza hotel.
A beaming Kathy told us: “I did not expect to win!
“I’ve been in retail for an awful long time, and I have always tried to look after customers. I’ve always strived to give the best customer service and look after people.
“I am very, very happy about it.
“I had an email from our new Managing Director, Ian Ayre, and a personal phone call from him this morning to say congratulations.
“He said he is very happy for me, and all of my colleagues and the rest of the management team are as well.
“It’s a team effort and this award is for all of us in the store because I couldn’t have won it without my colleagues.”

Kathy was nominated for the award by die-hard Liverpool fan Barbara Lawson – a frequent visitor to the Williamson Square store.
A regular at Reds matches home and away, Barbara is a collector of the medal range commemorating each of our European Cup successes.
However, obtaining the 1977 collection was proving problematic – until she explained the situation to Kathy.
The LFC employee took it upon herself to contact the manufacturers and get them to deliver the medal set. Once back in stock, she then emailed Barbara to inform her the desired item was available for collection at the store.
But the first Kathy knew of her Ambassador Awards nomination came when she received a phone call from the Commerce and Tourism Board.
Assistant retail manager Paul Owen added: “First of all, it makes me feel proud for Kathy, but it also makes me feel proud for retail because we work as one big team and we all work hard together.
“It goes to prove the time we’ve invested in recruiting the right people and training them to a high standard is paying off now.
“I know Ian Ayre is very proud at Kathy receiving the award.”
