Two Reds who made deadline-day loan moves to the Championship are looking forward to showing what they can do in the coming months.

On Monday, defender Scott Wootton and midfielder Oliver Norwood joined Nottingham Forest and Coventry City respectively until the end of the season.

Wootton returned to United early from a loan spell as Peterborough just over a week ago, while Norwood is making the step up, having been at League One Scunthorpe for the first half of the season.

Both players, who have starred for the Reds’ Reserves in previous seasons, are hoping to see plenty of action for their new clubs in a bid to further their footballing education.

“I’m really looking forward to it – Forest is a massive club with an illustrious history,” 20-year-old Wootton told MUTV. “It’ll be fantastic experience and I’ll look to get as many games as I can.

“They’re struggling at the moment but hopefully I can help to change that and they can work their way up the table. They have a great stadium with great fans and it’ll be a really good atmosphere every game.”

Norwood, 20, said:  “I’m really excited to get going. I was hoping to go to the Championship in the summer, but Scunthorpe gave me a chance and I really enjoyed it there. Hopefully now I can step up to the Championship and prove I can play at that level with Coventry.

“Scott and the other players who’ve played in the Championship have told me you get a bit more time on the ball, which will probably suit me more than the hustle and bustle of League One.”
