Despite being known for his predatory goal scoring instincts, United striker Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez insists the overall team performance is more important than his desire to hit the back of the net.

The Mexican striker, who joined the Reds from Chivas Guadalajara last summer, opened his scoring account for the 2011/12 season with two neat finishes during United’s 5-0 win over Bolton on Saturday.

An impressive feat for a player making his first start of the campaign - after missing the preceeding six weeks of action with a concussion. Although, Chicharito admits the feeling of satisfaction supplied by winning is far greater than that of scoring.

“Scoring goals gives you confidence,” Chicha told MUTV. “But like I say, the most important thing for me was to play 90 minutes and to win. For almost two months I was out, so my goal is to keep working for the team and to help the team get the win.”

United produced an impressive performance against Owen Coyle’s Greater-Manchester rivals, who for the majority of the match, struggled to cope with the fluidity and movement of a Reds team high on confidence. Chicharito, however, was keen to express how tough the task at hand was.

“It was not easy. It was a very difficult game. Everybody knows about the Reebok stadium and the Bolton team, and it is very difficult. Thankfully we played very well. We managed to score a lot of goals and we created a lot of chances.

“We scored a goal really early and that helped us to manage the game in a different way. When you score the other team needs to get one back and you can start to take control.”
