Two penalties from Wayne Rooney were enough to give the Reds a 2-0 victory over Otelul Galati a fortnight ago and you can get 6.6 (11/2) on the same scoreline when the teams meet tonight.

That result would do very nicely because, although United are 1.1 (1/10) to win this match and 1.57 (4/7) to win Group C, Benfica go into this evening’s game in top spot with two more points.

Momentum is important for the Reds in the continuing recovery from that game against Manchester City. But momentum might not necessarily equate to a glut of goals. We sense that Sir Alex Ferguson wants to firstly re-lay the defensive foundations of his team and that’s why we think he would be very pleased with a clean sheet and comfortable, rather than emphatic, win. 

We were rewarded when we backed the United clean sheet in Romania two weeks ago and Sir Alex alluded to the importance of shut-outs when he praised the 1-0 win at Everton on Saturday. Can the Reds keep out Otelul Galati without he suspended Nemanja Vidic and injured Chris Smalling? At 1.54 (8/15) the market thinks so.
