Long before the days of Roman Abramovich, Chelsea were a bit of a bogey team for United. Throughout the 1990s, when Sir Alex’s men swept aside all comers, the Blues often managed to beat the Reds, including home and away in 1993/94 and the 5-0 horror show of October 1999.

The Blues’ status as 2.18 (6/5) favourites is due to the head-to-head record and home advantage. But the Premier League winner market tells a more accurate story – Chelsea are out to 29.0 (28/1), having been odds on less than six months ago, while United are 1.58 (4/7) favourites.
